
Triathlon have been growing in popularity every year in Hong Kong, many sports enthusiasm always talk about triathlon, but actually what sports does triathlon involved? And what is distance of triathlon?
Types of Triathlon Races (swim-Bike-Run)
Basically triathlon involve swimming, biking and running, since not everyone
are nature born triathletes so we have some event suitable for both beginners
and professional sportsmen as well such as:
Aquathlon - Swim and Run event, sometimes can be Run, Swim, Run also, the distance
usual is 500m swim and 5km Run. For children and youth, the distance can cut
half.
Duathlon is a Run- Bike- Run event, which target runners and cyclists. The distance usual are 3 km run, 30 km bike and 3 km run.
Off-road triathlon is a swim-bike-run, because it is off road, it require s technical bike handling skills and the most challenge part is the mountain running.
Distance of Triathlon Races (swim-Bike-Run)
Sprint distance: 750m swim, 20 km Bike, 5km Run
Olympic distance: 1500m Swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
Ironman distance; 3800m swim, 180km bike, 42 km run
Triathlon- long thought to be the domain of a super-fit few, but actually doing
a triahtlon is easier than it looks. Triathlon is just a cross training and
balance workouts, it is also a good way to get fit and stay fit. Many professional
athletes they also do the triathlon to keep them stay interested in sport. Triathlon
also a good way to meet lots of new friends from three difference disciplines
(Just make sure you have that much of time to socialize with them)
A golden rule for beginner in triathlon is “Resist the temptation to getting
too fast at the beginning, Triathlon is a sport of endurance not 100m sprint”
Summer Program (start in May )
1.Adult Triathlon Beginner Course (ATri) 成人三項鐵人訓練班 - for adults who are able
to swim 50 metres freestyle.
Aim is to teach basic triathlon skills to beginner and encourage participant
to join in the triathlon race.
Course aim: teach Open water swim techniques, race kit selection, bike and transition
techniques and race course analysis, Running and Mini brick (Swim+Bike+Run practice).
Equipment: swimming and running costume running shoe, helmet and bike.

Sep & Oct Course (Every Mon & Thur) Time:20:15-21:10
2.Junior Aquathlon (swim and run) Training (AQ-TRA) 少年水陸兩項鐵人訓練
The sport of aquathlon consists of continuous, two-stage race involving swimming
followed by running.
This training’s aim is to improve the running and swimming stamina, speed and
transition technique and to identify potential youth to participate in the aquathlon
and triathlon events in Hong Kong.
(Entry requirements: 1 min. for 50m freestyle and 1 min. 10 sec. for 50m breaststroke)
